  3. Hey Mandy! Nice to hear from you! I know exactly what you mean about the "duh" look. I think it is even worse now because of my braces. My bf was making fun of me the other day about it. Like those 18 year old boys who work at fast food joints and look half-asleep/half-stoned on drugs. I cannot wait for that to be fixed! I can close my mouth but my chin puckers when I do and I look like I am forcing it so usually, I let it hang... :-)

Surgery is still on track for May. I am kind of holding my orthodontist to it and he says he will try his best. I see him again next week so hopefully things are still on track. I know my teeth are moving quickly and they are totally straight. The only thing we are waiting for is for my bottom teeth to be pulled out a bit more (they were caving inwards). My top and bottom molars do not touch and that needs to happen, I think, before I get the go-ahead!

The sooner the better because I want to be on the other side with you and Elisha! You both look great and I cannot wait to be able to eat a salad again without the lettuce just sliding back and forth between my non-touching teeth!

  4. Mandy, I saw your post on Elishia's blog about moving to Evansville, Indiana. This is my hometown and where I grew up!! My parents live in Newburgh, IN just east of Evansville and one of my sisters still lives there and is going to college at USI where I also went.

I know moving will be hard on your family but Evansville is a great place to raise a family. In fact, it's also been rated one of the top places to live by Kipplinger and Forbes magazines for several years. It's also 2 hours from Nashville, Indianapolis, St. Louis and Louisville so you are surrounded by bigger cities.

Do you know what school your kids will go to yet? The school system is EVV is awesome! I think you'll be very happy there. Where is your husband going to be working?

I make it home several times a year and maybe we will get the chance to meet up in person one of these days! I'll be home again in the spring after tax season. Can't wait!

    Good luck with your move!!

  5. Tara- I can NOT believe that Evansville is your hometown!?!?!? Crazy small world! We are looking in Newburgh. I have a good friend from college who lives there so that makes it a bit easier. But this will be the third move in a little over a year....sad for my kiddos.

YOur positive comments about Evansville came at a perfect time as I was pretty stressed out at the time. It seems like a great little family town!

Would LOVE to get together sometime when you come back. :)

  6. Mandy,

Newburgh and the East Side of Evansville are very nice areas!! And to be honest, there are a lot more things to do now than in many small cities - lots of new shopping on the East Lloyd Expressway leading into Newburgh. My parents live minutes from the Ohio River and that entire area is really pretty. I also like the cobblestone streets of Newburgh and the boutique shops.

Great schools in the area you're looking at. If you live in Newburgh, Castle high is known to be one of the best in the city.

I know moving can be hard - we did it a lot until the last move when I was in 8th grade. I was nervous when I first moved to EVV but it's a really friendly town and I had no problems whatsoever making friends, even at that age where I was about to start high school. I just got myself into lots of activities and to this day I consider EVV the city where I grew up (although I was 12 when I moved there).

Please do pass along your email and I'll look you up next time I come to town! Mine is aquaclover@comcast.net.

Good luck with your move and I do look forward to your last post showing your pearly whites after debracing in about a month!!

    xo,
    Tara
