  1. Mandy, what position are your molars in now? My ortho is thinking my braces will be off in about 2 months, but my molars seem to still be separated quite a bit, and my surgeon said he would 'try to bring them a bit closer'. I am just wondering if yours are fully touching at this point or not?

  4. Hi Mandy! OMG....you look amazing!!! Did you just get the upper/lower & chin? Your cheekbones look fab so I was wondering if you got anything done there or is it just look great when everything else is in porportion!?

Anyway...yes, like others said, your blog has been the best by far and I have been keeping up to date with your progress.

Guess what, I finally have my surgery coming up!! It's next Friday and needless to say, I'm scared. More so about my toddler who's now 18 months old. I worry about not being able to pick her up and cuddle and play with her for a while.

So I wanted to ask you about that. How did you deal with your little one? Mine is only 18 months old and she expects me to pick her up, kiss her and play with her if I'm in the room. Just wondering about your interaction with the little one and how they took it when you weren't as engaged as normal. When were you able to pick him up?

I'm so looking forward to my 'after'. I hope my outcome is as great is yours. Your smile looks fab now!!

Well I can't wait until I'm at your phase....:)

  9. Mandy, I hope you're doing well! I'm not sure if you still get emails from blogger but I thought it was worth a try. I am 4 wks from surgery and just met with the OS yesterday for the first time in a year. I'm a bit nervous about one of the risks - of permanent numbness, and the OS says that my age and degree of movement makes me at higher risk. I was curious what your experience with numbness has been and whether it's painful if you do still experience it. How much feeling did you get back? I am 33 years old, and I recall that your case was similar to mine in that you also had double jaw plus genio. My predicted movement is: 3 mm upper impaction; 10 mm (1 cm!) lower jaw advancement and 5-7 mm genio.

Hope you are doing well and are beyond the majority of the recovery now that you're approaching a year since surgery!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

p.s. blogger is being stupid and won't let me post by my blogger id: bracedblogger (Tara)

  10. Tara- I HATE BLOGGER....I haven't been able to comment on my blog or anyone else's at all the past few months. Wanted to answer your question about numbness. Yes, still quite numb. My lower lip is about 50% numb in the middle and the roof of my mouth is about 80% numb. It is annoying, yes....when I think about it which really isn't that often. Some days it bugs me more than others but it is not nearly as bad as you would imagine. I have read some people got their feeling back after a few years so there is a little hope that it will totally come back but not a lot.

Would I do it again, yes, without a doubt!!! Good luck to you, you will do great!!! :)

  11. Hi Mandy, I just started following your blog and your done with your journey, you look fantastic. My potential surgeon proposed the exact same large advancements for the upper and lower jaw- did it freak you out at first? Did you question at all their proposed movements? Are you experiencing permanent numbness. I'd love to connect with you since it appears you are almost identical to me case wise and would love to hear more.

I hope to hear from you .
    Suzie.
